1945 Mason Grad Never Forgets
Norman Stener, 78, a 1945 graduate of Mason School, donated $800 to Mason to
honor his former first grade teacher, Goldie Hazlett. Sterner never forgot
the inspiration he received from his former teacher and wanted to show his gratitude.
Current principal, Stephanie Churn, thanked Sterner for his gift and said the money
would be used to provide school supplies, clothing, and shoes for Mason students in need.
Here
is the article as it appeared in the Akron Beacon Journal.

Mason fourth graders became amateur explorers of early Ohio on the
morning of November 11 when the Summit County Historical Society
visited presenting a lesson from its fourth grade outreach series entitled
A River Through Time.
Led by Society educator, Mrs. Mary Conley, the students traced the history
of native people in Ohio beginning with the Ice Age, through the Paleo period, on
to the rise of the Mound Builders, and finally studying the Woodland tribes.
Students learned about and handled artifacts, tools, and clothing from those eras.
